The self-hosted IMAP bounce manager for PHP — classify, suppress, and move on. Works with any mailer.
CloudWizard Bounce Manager scans your IMAP bounce mailboxes, classifies every failure, and builds a clean suppression list — without ever removing a valid subscriber because of a spam refusal. Use it with the system you already have, or as part of the complete CloudWizard Suite.
Every email service charges monthly. But if you run your own stack, you're left piecing together scripts — or ignoring bounces entirely.
Sending to non-existent addresses signals spam behavior to Gmail, Outlook, and major ISPs. Your entire list suffers.
A full mailbox today might be abandoned tomorrow. Without a counter, you keep sending — and eventually get flagged.
Most scripts mark a valid address as dead when a provider refuses your mail as spam. You lose real subscribers for something that was about your reputation, not theirs.
Hosted platforms charge €30–300/month for list hygiene. If you self-host, you shouldn't have to pay forever.
A focused tool built for developers and marketers who run their own mail infrastructure.
Connect unlimited IMAP accounts. Scanning runs in chunks with a live progress bar, so even very large mailboxes are safe. Processed bounces are removed from the mailbox.
RFC 3464 DSN parsing, SMTP code analysis, VERP support and keyword matching tell true hard bounces from IP blocks and spam rejections.
Subject rules and body patterns seeded on install and fully editable in the UI. Add your own, toggle them on or off, set the priority order. No code changes needed.
Suppress after 1 hard bounce and 3 soft bounces by default, both adjustable. Or turn auto-suppress off and just classify and log.
Spam refusals and IP blocks are logged separately and never suppress an address. Only dead addresses and repeated soft bounces do.
Reads the daily reports from Google, Microsoft, Mail.ru, Yahoo and others and shows pass and fail per provider and sending server, so you see why mail lands in spam.
Every scan is logged with account, counts and time. Messages where no recipient could be found go to a failure log for review — nothing is silently dropped.
Export the exclude list (hard and soft), hard only, soft only, or everything, and load it into whichever mailer you use.
Your subscriber data never leaves your server. No third-party APIs, no SaaS dependencies, no monthly fees.
Most bounce handlers treat everything as a hard bounce. CloudWizard classifies correctly — protecting valid addresses from being wrongly removed.
Permanent failure — address doesn't exist or domain is invalid. Added to your suppression list on the first one by default. Never send to these again.
Temporary failure — mailbox full, server busy, quota exceeded. Counted per address and suppressed once your soft threshold is reached (3 by default).
Your sending IP was blocklisted. The address is valid — the rejection was about you, not them. Logged separately, never suppressed.
Your message was refused as spam by the receiving server. Valid address, reputation or content issue. Recorded for review, never suppressed.
Drop the module on your server, connect a bounce mailbox, and let cron keep your list clean.
Upload the CW folder and open the setup wizard. Enter your database details and choose an admin password. Tables and default patterns are created for you.
Under Settings, add your IMAP bounce mailbox. Test the connection with one click to confirm it works.
Cron scans every few minutes and drains the whole backlog each run. You can also scan on demand with live progress.
Dead addresses are suppressed automatically. Export the list as CSV for any mailer, or let Mail Engine and Audience Manager use it directly.
Works on any server running PHP with the IMAP extension, and MySQL/MariaDB.
📬 Connects to anything reachable over standard IMAP — Gmail, Microsoft 365, Postfix, Dovecot — and reads any RFC 3464–compliant delivery status notification. It does not need Mail Engine: use it with MailWizz, phpList, Acelle or any other sender.
No subscriptions. No seat limits. No usage caps. Pay once, use on as many of your own servers as you need.
Secure payment via Stripe · Instant delivery · VAT may apply

👀 Open Live Demo →No. Bounce Manager works on its own with any mailer that sends bounces to an IMAP mailbox. Export the suppression list as CSV for your sender, or install Mail Engine and Audience Manager and they use the same list automatically.
It removes only messages it has processed as bounces, and the mailbox is meant as a transient inbox for them, ideally a dedicated address or folder. Auto-replies and out-of-office messages are skipped by your pattern rules. The classified result is kept in Bounce Manager's own list.
No. A refusal such as "550 spam message rejected", a 5.7.x policy code, or a block or DMARC message is logged as Spam Reject or IP Block and the address stays on your list. Only dead-address bounces and repeated soft bounces suppress an address.
Any IMAP-accessible mailbox — Postfix/Dovecot, Gmail, Outlook/Exchange, Yahoo and most other providers. STARTTLS, SSL/TLS or plain on localhost are supported. If you can connect via IMAP in a mail client, it will work here.
Scanning runs in chunks with a live progress bar, and each cron run drains an account's whole backlog, so a large bounce spike is caught up in one run.
Big providers send a daily summary of all mail received in your domain's name and whether it passed DKIM and SPF. Bounce Manager reads them from a separate mailbox and shows pass and fail per provider and sending server, so you can find why mail lands in spam or spot someone forging your domain.
Your data never leaves your server. IMAP credentials are stored in your own database, and the installation guide covers restricting admin access.
Yes — a single purchase covers all your own servers and projects. There are no per-domain or per-server restrictions. The license covers personal and commercial use on servers you own or operate.

Designed by someone who has run customer databases and direct mail since the late 1980s.
Not because it's old-school, but because anyone who has actually run a mailing list knows the hard part isn't sending — it's keeping the list clean and your sender reputation healthy over time. That's the problem this tool is built to solve.
